Welcome to our June Blog 2025

Corgi's Ground Hog Day

May saw the release of Corgi's May to August catalogue. In the recent past I have labelled the new releases as disappointing and now I think we have to add to that predictable, as the latest catalogue offers no real surprises. What we have is a host of Ford vehicles, a dollop of Aviation Archives and a sprinkling of Star Trek, Thunderbirds and James Bond.  There appears to be one new casting, the Ford Fiesta Mk2 in red.   Having said that, there is something different in the shape of a Ford Transit Custom and a Ford escort Mk2 RS2000 from the Richard Hammond tv series, The Smallest Cog. Sold separately or bundled together.

Celebrate this iconic partnership

Motorsport fans have been looking forward to a new collecting opportunity this year following the partnership of two of formula one's icons, that is Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari. You can get your collection under way now as the first model has arrived in the Uk from Look Smart. This is Lewis's helmet in 1:5 scale as worn at the 2025 Fiorano test. Seven-time Formula One world champion Hamilton drove a Ferrari for the very first time in a private test at the team's Fiorano circuit on 22nd January 2025. Also announced from Look Smart is 1:43 & 1:12 scale models of Lewis's winning Ferrari SF25 from the Chinese GP Sprint race.

Other diecast news

Opposite is a recently released model from William Britain. Apparently they heaved a huge sigh of relief when this shipment arrived as the tariff saga had created so much uncertainty regarding deliveries. This is a great addition to the Rorke's Drift collection. For more on this model go to the William Britain website.

Have you ever thought about starting your own company producing diecast models. For most of us it is just a passing fancy but for Jes and Nicole this is exactly what they are doing. Their company IMPACT Model Cars will make hand crafted models in 1:18 scale and their first model is due at the end of this year. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram and a website is due shortly.

News from Mattel on a new range called Brick Shop in collaboration with Hot Wheels. This is a range of collectible building sets that comes with a ready made 1:64 scale version of the the kit. For more on this story go to the Collectors Club of Great Britain Website.

Finally, I do like to see pictures of models when they are in their development stages. The one below shows an R&D pic of the Top Marques 1:12 scale Ferrari 330 P3.
